The Story Of Ninja Hub
Ninja Hub founders & owners, Tim & Christina Adam were born & raised right here in Stark County. Christina was a graduate of Heritage Christian School and Cornerstone University and Tim was a graduate of Jackson High School & Stark State College. Both Tim & Christina were always active in sports from a young age through college (Tim - soccer & volleyball / Christina - volleyball, basketball & softball) and the amazing sport of Ninja Warrior became part of their lives in 2015.
Tim & Christina would watch American Ninja Warrior with their 2 kids, Camden & Macy, when they were just 4 & 1 years old, and one day Tim decided to build a little ninja course in their backyard using their swingset & other things he had in the garage such as tires, chairs, and ladders. The kids had so much fun running, hopping & jumping over obstacles, Tim decided to build some things for the backyard like a permanent structure they could swing from, & even a 14.5 foot warped wall! That was just the beginning because Tim kept adding more & more to the backyard course, and before they knew it, they had friends (& even some strangers!) showing up on a regular basis to train in their backyard, AKA Ninja Hub 1.0!
One day, one of their good friends mentioned that they should take things a step further & open up a local ninja gym since there was nothing like that in the area. Tim & Christina thought it sounded fun but laughed off the idea, as they were already busy with their kids & their other businesses they’d been running out of their home for the previous decade. They had no idea how to run a gym or what it entailed, but the thought was definitely intriguing.
Fast forward to November 2017 and the property at 6207 Dressler Road became available. Tim toured it & despite its old & run down condition, he had no doubt that this was the future home of the REAL Ninja Hub! In December 2017, Tim & Christina signed papers to start the exciting yet grueling 4-month journey of construction. Tim, being a trained welder, had the complete vision for building Ninja Hub & with the help of a few other skilled builders, his vision painstakingly came to life.
Ninja Hub opened on May 1, 2018 & the official grand opening took place on June 9, 2018, where American Ninja Warrior all-star Grant McCartney (The Island Ninja) and international musician Aaron Boyd put on a meaningful, heartfelt, and action-packed evening of FUN for the community.
At the end of 2019, Ninja Hub expanded by adding on 2,000 square feet of obstacle-packed gym space, taking the total size of Ninja Hub from 5,400 to 7,400 square feet. The excitement of a new year with brand new structures & obstacles came to a screeching halt in March 2020, when the world stopped & Ninja Hub was forced to close for nearly 3 months. The future of Ninja Hub was unknown, as Tim & Christina didn’t know if it could survive the year with the lack of activity & support. Once the gym reopened, the rest of 2020 was depressingly slow, as so many people were still afraid to visit a gym. The decision was made on January 2, 2021, that if things didn’t pick up within the next 30 days, Ninja Hub would close forever.
Apparently God had other plans because January 2021 ended up being one of Ninja Hub’s busiest months to date. There was no doubt that Ninja Hub had a purpose & would go on! There have been hills & valleys, challenges & struggles, but there’s no question that Ninja Hub has made its mark on the community.
Since its beginning, Ninja Hub has continued to thrive & make a difference in the lives of thousands of kids and adults. The positive stories people have shared of their kids’ confidence growing & stress decreasing because of their involvement at Ninja Hub are so inspiring. Deep friendships have formed, new relationships have started & have even resulted in marriage & babies! Some of the most incredible kids who started out in ninja classes over the years are now grown up & are coaches on staff. Ninja Hub is truly creating a legacy story in North Canton…and it’s not just a gym, it’s a journey.
The future is bright for Ninja Hub & for all the new people who will experience the joy of being part of the Ninja Hub family.
